AWARD-WINNING actor, writer (Happiness™- ★★★★★) and storyteller Cory Thibert, embodies his 19-year-old self as he uncovers the truth behind what sets his family apart. This coming-of-age story with a twist, explores what constitutes “normal” in our world and how having parents with (dis)abilities challenges what a family can look like. HILARIOUS. HONEST. IMPACTFUL. Director: Linnea Gwiazda, Dramaturge: TJ Dawe. facebook.com/AwkwardHugShow

About the artist/company
AWKWARD HUG is co-produced by Vancouver-based artists Cory Thibert (Writer / performer) and Linnea Gwiazda (Director / Stage Manager). Coming from their respective backgrounds in theatre and dance with a focus on interdisciplinarity, together they produce work which is a meeting of their individual and collaborative processes. Cory and Linnea have been presenting work individually and together, at fringe festivals since 2011, and dramaturg TJ Dawe has done over 100 fringes! AWKWARD HUG is the first work created by Cory, Linnea and TJ as a creative team, and they are excited to bring their “FRINGE 2018 MUST-SEE” to Victoria.
