Come early to OUTstages for our new FREE pre-show event – OUT-ings, featuring a rotating panel of artists and queer experts, no two nights are the same.

Join us in the lobby of the Intrepid Theatre Club, Wednesday June 21 – Saturday June 24 at 6pm for a casual half-hour lobby talk. Dive deeper into the art at the festival, get a glimpse into Victoria’s drag history, learn about the Transgender Archives, and have a pre-show drink, the bar will be open! These events are free to the community, but you will need a ticket to the shows at the festival following the talk.

Wednesday June 21, 6pm

The Transgender Archives @ UVic

 Lara Wilson, UVic’s Director of Special Collections and University Archivist, and Michael Radmacher, Chair in Transgender Studies – Administrative Officer, will present highlights from the world’s largest archives of trans history.

Thursday June 22, 6pm

Gay Cabaret!

Robert Holliston, from Pacific Opera Victoria talks all things cabaret, including it’s influences, queer history, and how it has shaped current music and cabaret performers.

Friday June 23, 6pm

Men Seeking Men

Indrit Kasapi, the choreographer/creator of MSM [men seeking men] talks to OUTstages Curator Sean Guist about creating the show,  dating apps, online conversations and hook-up culture.

Saturday June 24, 6pm

Capital City Drag

Local drag king, Persi Flage, the reinging Mr Gay Vancouver Island dishes on drag culture, the life of a drag king, and the drag culture in Victoria. Persi will be joined by a surprise Queeny guest…stay tuned!
