2020 Fringe FAQ: COVID

Click here to read Intrepid Theatre’s COVID statement regarding its operations during COVID-19.

At this point, we are planning to proceed with the Victoria Fringe, August 26 – September 6, 2020. We are working hard to re-envision the Fringe on a new scale and are revising timelines for artists to ensure that we can be as responsive as possible to the ever-evolving situation. We don’t know what will be possible, but here’s what we are committing to:

On June 1, we will officially announce if the Victoria Fringe will proceed as scheduled or be postponed to Aug-Sep 2021. If it proceeds, it may look a little different to previous years and we’ll provide more details on this date. Whatever form it takes, it will honour the spirit of Fringe.

FAQ – Below are some Frequently Asked Questions relating to Victoria Fringe 2020.

I’m a Fringe audience member and am concerned about Fringe. How can I support Fringe and find out about the festival proceeding?

We will announce on June 1 what is happening with the festival in terms of proceeding for 2020. Staff are working hard from our respective homes to support the Fringe community and artists and we will send you more info via our enews on June 1 (sign up here if you haven’t already). If you have the means, donating will help ensure that Intrepid Theatre can continue to serve our community and deliver the Fringe. Thank you for your good wishes and support and know that in some form or another, we will Fringe this summer!

I’m a previous Fringe volunteer or would like to volunteer with this year’s Fringe. How will this impact on me?

The volunteers are the lifeblood of Fringe and it won’t happen without your support! We are still figuring out exactly what the Fringe will look like this year in light of COVID, but likely there will be different types of shifts on offer and we may be working with a delayed timeline for volunteer orientation and information going out. We also don’t know at this point what the billeting program will look like and if there will be travel restrictions for touring artists. If you sign up here, we will be sending email updates as we will reach out with more info as we have it!

I’m a Fringe artist in the festival or on the waitlist. What are my options at this point?

We are offering Fringe artists a range of flexible options for participation and deferment, with a deadline of June 1 for drop out refunds. For full details on the artist refund policy please email Fringe Producer Sammie Gough (sammie@intrepidtheatre.com).

I was planning to apply to work with the Fringe this summer. What should I do?

We may be proceeding with a slightly smaller festival, and are at this point not sure how many staff positions we will require, but we would encourage you to send us your resume so we have it on file when we do proceed with hiring. We want to hear from you! (email sammie@intrepidtheatre.com)
