The last two rats in Alberta are back after a sold-out Canadian tour, and this time they’re serving JUSTICE. After being evicted from their rat hole, Fingers, a curmudgeonly street rat with a heart of gold, and Shrimp, an escaped happy-go-lucky lab rat, are forced to search for a new three-walled haven. Desperately seeking ways to stay where they are and continue living, these rats decide to take on the province of Alberta in the trial of the century. Inspired by Alberta’s famous 1950s anti-rat propaganda and mentored by Mump and Smoot, this physical comedy duo will leave you clutching your tail!

“THESE CHARACTERS ARE EMBODIED AND POLISHED TO NEAR PERFECTION — IT’S EASY TO FORGET YOU’RE WATCHING TWO HUMANS ON STAGE… IF YOU HAVEN’T YET, LET RAT ACADEMY ENCHANT YOU. ”

About the Artists

Founded in 2020, Batrabbit is a contemporary theatre collective based in Amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton) that devises spectacular, ridiculous, and deeply personal performances. Our work sits at the intersection of the grotesque and the tender, and utilizes clown and comedy to redefine the unseen limitations of femme and non-binary body on stages.
