2025 Orlando Fringe Critics’ Choice Award — Best Solo Show: Improv

Orlando Sentinel’s Best of 2026 Orlando Fringe Festival

One Performer. Every Character. Mucho Laughs. Diane Jorge transforms one audience member’s real-life love stories, enemies, and secrets into a wildly hilarious telenovela — playing every character herself. No two shows are ever the same!

The perfect mix of humor and…the scandalously melodramatic. — Orlando Sentinel

None pack more pure joy per minute than Solovela… Jorge is a deft performer with a vibrantly volcanic personality…she fluently speaks the language of laughter. — Orlando Weekly

About the Artist

Diane Jorge (she/her) is a Miami-born Cuban-American actor, comedian, and improviser. She has been performing in South Florida and internationally for over 17 years, bringing culture, humor and camp to the stage.

She’s best known for Solovela: An Improvised Solo Telenovela, a Critics’ Choice winner (Best Solo Show – Improv) from the 2025 Orlando Fringe Festival. Solovela is her love letter to the telenovela genre: she watched them growing up, she analyzed them for a living, and now she gets to live out her telenovela dreams one show at a time. It’s fully improvised, performed entirely solo, dripping with drama, chaos, passion, and laughs. And the best part, no two shows are ever the same!

Diane has also toured the country as herself doing stand-up and as her Walter Mercado-inspired character, Mercado de la Fortuna – a Latino astrologer who reads your fortunes con mucho, mucho humor. This character turns audience interaction into hilarious, heartfelt moments of theatrical magic.

Beyond performing, she teaches improv classes and conducts team-building workshops using improv to bring teams together. Whether she’s improvising, teaching a room full of students, or cracking up crowds, Diane brings humor, culture, humanity, and a fearless sense of fun to everything she does.

“Miami native Diane Jorge, a deft performer with a vibrantly volcanic personality, exhibits enough exuberance to fuel a month worth of Sabado Gigantes…she fluently speaks the language of laughter.” -Seth Kubersky, Orlando Weekly

“Jorge is personable and funny, and her improv skills are nothing to sneeze at either. Que divertida!” – Matt Palm, Orlando Sentinel

“Diane Jorge remains a must-see for Fringe’s fans…” -Seth Kubersky, Orlando Weekly
