The Audience Choice Award Winner at SummerWorks, Pearle Harbour’s Chautauqua is an immersive extravaganza: part drag, part tragicomedy, part old-time tent revival. The world may be falling apart, but Pearle will show you there’s more that unites us than divides us.

Be honest: how are you doing, really? Are you behind on your emails? Are you worried? Afraid? Lost?

You are not alone. And connection is the cure for what ails ya. Come gather together, under the milky folds of Pearle’s beautiful tent, and be sheltered from the inharmony of our troubled times. Catch your breath, speak your truth, and feel the people power! You betcha!

“Outstanding Play, Outstanding Production, Outstanding Performance, Outstanding Direction and Outstanding Design” – NNNN, Critics’ Pick, NOW Magazine (Toronto)

“A+++++++ … “This is everything I want to see, everything I want hear, everything I want to be.” – My Entertainment World (Toronto)

About the artist:
Justin Miller is a queer, Toronto-based theatre artist. He is a writer and Dora-nominated actor, best known as the drag tragicomedienne Pearle Harbour. Justin studied at the University of Toronto, and has trained with such internationally renowned artists as Philippe Gaulier, Karen Hines (Crawlspace), John Turner (Mump & Smoot), Carlos Garcia Estevez, and Denise Fujiwara. He is an artist-in-residence at Theatre Passe Muraille.

As his alter-ego Pearle Harbour, “one of the most welcome additions to Toronto’s performance scene” (XTRA), his work has been presented at the SummerWorks Performance Festival, The Second City, Buddies In Bad Times Theatre, the RISER Project (Why Not Theatre/ Theatre Centre), the Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival, Theatre Passe Muraille, Videofag, The Wrecking Ball, Pressgang Storytelling, The Comedy Bar, Nightwood Theatre, The Gladstone Hotel, and countless other theatres, cabarets, clubs, and concerts across Ontario.

He is the author of seven full-length shows, most recently Pearle Harbour’s Battle Cry: Songs of Warefare and Gaiety, and the immersive tent revival Pearle Harbour’s Chautauqua, winner of the NOW Audience Choice Award at Summerworks. Pearle was also a featured collaborator (acting as emcee and providing original text) to Opera5’s radical, immersive take on Die Fledermaus, a Schmopera ‘Top Show of the Year.’

When not in drag, Justin acts in other peoples’ plays. Notably: The Pitchfork Disney (Precisely Peter), Birth (Pandemic Theatre, Dora-nomination for Outstanding Male Performance), FireRAISERS (red light district theatre), Hedwig & The Angry Inch (Drama Centre), The Misunderstanding (Lester Trips Theatre).
