Advance tickets for Songs of Resilience are sold out. We may be able to release a handful of tickets at the door 1 hour before the show. The Queer Songbook Orchestra is also playing on Saturday June 23 at the Ladysmith Little Theatre, presented by Cowichan Performing Arts Centre. Details here.

Casting a contemporary queer eye on a century’s worth of popular song, the Queer Songbook Orchestra explore the LGBTQ backstories and personal narratives that richly populate music of the past several generations. Building a living archive of songs by queer songwriters and performers, the ensemble is drawing attention to the stories and contributions of artists who worked and lived in the shadows of intolerance.

Songs of Resilience has toured the country, playing the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival, the High Performance Rodeo, the National Arts Centre, and Buddies in Bad Times. Join us for this ONE NIGHT ONLY performance, part of Intrepid Theatre’s OUTstages. The Queer Songbook Orchestra proudly welcomes guest artists Rae Spoon (guest vocalist), Louise Rose (guest vocalist), Ann-Bernice Thomas (guest narrator), and a local high school student (guest narrator) for their show at OUTstages. In every city the show travels to, they engage local artists as guest vocalists and narrators, growing the QSO family across the country.

Formed in 2014, the Queer Songbook Orchestra is an 11-piece chamber pop collective of queer and allied musicians from Toronto and Montreal that is dedicated to exploring the queer narratives in popular music.
