The Boy in the Chrysalis tells the story of a broken-hearted man—a grade school teacher by day, a drag queen by night—whose relationship has recently ended. Faced with the banality of everyday existence, this man does what he can to escape from his apartment, his routine—and his life. His story is a portrait of loneliness, compassion, and the fragile power of the imagination. hapaxtheatre.com

About the artist/company
hapax theatre (formerly Jarvolution Theatre) was formed in 2014 by Heather Jarvie and Chad Laidlaw in Victoria, BC. We believe that magic happens in a theatre. We believe that through exceptional storytelling, an artist can touch a person’s life. We believe that theatre can open minds, and encourage dialogue around ideas and beliefs. We believe that providing an encouraging, challenging space will help artists create their best art.
