Are looking for people with a story to tell

Trophy is a performance and art installation that asks: how have you changed? Audience members explore a cluster of 9 architectural tents. Inside each tent is a person telling the true story of a turning point in their life. Audience members circulate through the tents, transforming them into multi-coloured translucent structures, covered in new stories. How its lifespan evolves depends on you. Our light-filled tents become temporary beacons to a world in changing times, before they vanish off into the night.

Trophy is presented as part of UNO Fest, an annual festival of solo performance that animates downtown Victoria with daring and innovative artists from across North America.

Trophy has been presented across Canada and abroad, including at the National Arts Centre (Ottawa), Dublin Fringe Festival (Dublin), SummerWorks Performance Festival (Toronto), One Yellow Rabbit’s High Performance Festival (Calgary), In the Soil MultiArts Festival (St Catherines), Nocturne (Halifax) and Nuit Blanche Ottawa+Gatineau (Ottawa).

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

If you or someone you know has a story of a moment in your life when something changed, we want to hear it! Big, small, funny or heartbreaking –all stories are welcome. We’re looking to celebrate community, and share and represent stories from all cultures and experiences.

• Are there moments in your life when everything changed?
• Did a chance encounter change your life forever?
• Have you risked failure to achieve something important?

Love, loss, health scares, career and family challenges and successes – there are no stories too big or too small! Join us and have your story heard.

We encourage submissions from diverse people of all backgrounds, race, color, gender, national origin, age, religion, creed, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.

To submit: contact Sarah at sarah@thisistrophy.com by March 15, 2019. Send us a few sentences describing who are you, your story, and anything else you would like us to know about you.

Performance date: Please ensure you are available May 11, 2019.

Stories should be 4 minutes long. We will work with you to help shape and rehearse your story. You will work both independently and within the group leading up to the event. We foster artistic development through workshops, and 1-2-1 coaching sessions. All participants will be paid an honorarium.
