Call for Board Members

Do you have an appreciation for Victoria’s performing arts and festival scene? Would you like to contribute to the excitement & strength of one of Canada’s most exciting theatre companies? Intrepid Theatre is now accepting statements of interest to join our Board of Directors.

Expressions of interest detailing relevant professional experience and why you would like to join the Intrepid Theatre board (maximum 200 words) should be forwarded no later than Monday May 15, 2023 to board@intrepidtheatre.com

We’re looking for board members who are excited by what we do and have a desire to actively contribute to Intrepid Theatre’s future. As part of our board renewal, we are looking for board members to support and direct the organization.

We are looking for Board Members with experience in fundraising, advocacy, property development, community engagement, and EDI work..
 

What does an Intrepid Theatre Board Member look like?

  • Energetic, creative and has a love for the Performing Arts
  • Interested in fundraising and philanthropic giving
  • Has valuable community contacts
  • Commits to strategic planning and works collectively to accomplish goals

Board members must be available for monthly meetings, annually based task groups and a commitment to attending Intrepid’s festivals and events as a representative of the company.

Founded in 1986 to produce the Victoria Fringe Festival – an international theatre event, open to performing artists of all levels of experience – Intrepid Theatre has become the mother-ship of Victoria’s independent theatre scene: providing venues, accessibility, advice, resources, mentorship, development programs for work by emerging artists, and connection to contemporary theatre internationally. We support and promote new home-grown work, while bringing remarkable work to Victoria for the first time, and introduce exciting contemporary artists to local audiences.

Mandate: To educate and enhance the public’s awareness and appreciation of progressive styles of theatre by encouraging, developing, and producing adventurous works for audiences.

Mission Statement: To enhance the experience of contemporary theatre in Victoria.
