Calling all old pros and first-timers alike, the festival is just around the corner, and we need you! The Victoria Fringe Festival is a celebration of theatre from around the world! The festival is powered by an army of over 100 dedicated volunteers, who help out with a wide range of jobs, including:

  • program distribution
  • bartending
  • box office
  • ushering
  • line concierge
  • and more!

Our hope is that volunteers will commit to a minimum of three shifts during the Fringe Festival, and will come to our Volunteer Centre to check-in before your shift or at any other time to enjoy some refreshments and community.

Our Fringe Volunteers receive:

  • A Volunteer T-shirt to keep!
  • A free 3-Show Volunteer Pass
  • Invitations to Artists’ Volunteer Appreciation shows
  • an additional 3-Show Volunteer Pass for completing more than 4 shifts during the Festival

If you want to get involved with the theatre, meet artists, see some awesome shows for free, and be an integral part of a big, welcoming, weird community – register to be a volunteer!

What is billeting?

Hosting a Fringe artist or two in your home, also known as “billeting,” is a great way to meet artists from far and wide, be part of the big weird Fringe family, and see great independent theatre for free! Billeting is a key part of making our festival feasible and attractive to touring companies. Performers cover their own travel expenses to get here and are paid in box office receipts. To help support the artists, Intrepid Theatre looks for local hosts who are willing to “adopt an artist” for a couple of weeks, allowing them to stay in their home for free in a spare room or bed.

All festival artists and billeting hosts should be able to provide proof of COVID vaccinations upon request (depending on health orders).

If you have any questions about Fringe volunteer or billet opportunities, please don’t hesitate to contact us at the Intrepid office (250.383.2663) or email us at volunteer@intrepidtheatre.com. We hope to hear from you soon!
