Kai Fig – my phone keeps autocorrecting ‘enby’ to ‘envy’
For this residency, kai will be drafting and workshopping a new play called my phone keeps autocorrecting ‘enby’ to ‘envy.’ The play explores the sticky tangled beautiful mess of queer and neurodivergent community through the voices of 3 different trans characters. They can’t wait to share it with you!!! <3
About the artist
kai fig taddei (any pronouns) is a neurotic trans squiggle whose habits include deleting/ reinstalling dating apps, forgetting about that tea they poured an hour ago, and catastrophizing. kai’s play duecentomila is a lambda literary award finalist and their short piece the radical collectivism of goose culture is forthcoming as part of a 2SLGBTQIA+ anthology edited by Bilal Baig and Evan Tsitsias. she is of mixed european ancestry (italian & french), born and raised on the unceded territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. you can probably find him at the library or talking loudly to his dog on the beach.
