Rentals & Venues

Venues, Rates & Fees

From theatre to dance, to film shoots and screenings, Intrepid Theatre hosts two venues that have become stalwarts of the local indie performance scene. Our venues are available for rent year-round.

Changes to the Rental Program – Please Read.

The pandemic brought many lessons to Intrepid Theatre, and included a re-evaluation of our rental program and how we use our venues. We have made changes that now better align with our vision, mission, and mandate, which you will find in summary in the tabs below.

Changes to the Rental Program

Intrepid Theatre is foremost a live contemporary performance festival presenter. Our new booking priorities are designed to support our mandate and staff capacity.

  • Priority 1: Intrepid Theatre Programming
  • Priority 2: Resident or Partner Organizations / Annual Events
  • Priority 3: Performing Arts Rentals that book multiple days
  • Priority 4: Performing Arts Rentals (with same-day tech) that book a single day

In order to best respond to your rental needs, we need the details of your event – please fill out a booking request form.

You can find the form here.

Moving forward, our Production team will develop the Production Schedule for your event in collaboration with you. We know our staff requirements and venues best, and this process helps provide healthier expectations and work environments for everyone while they are in our spaces.  We will always work to make it as cost-effective for you as possible!

Please note: showtimes MUST be approved by Intrepid before your tickets go on-sale.

As Production Schedules are built together, labour won’t be included as part of your deposit fee. An estimate for production labour can be provided after the Production Schedule has been developed.

We have updated our rental rates, labour costs, and other expenses, incorporating an annual increase. The annual increase for the following year will be published each fall.

You can find the current 2024 rates here.

All rentals at the Intrepid Studio need to have General Liability Insurance at a minimum of $2,000,000 coverage, as required by Intrepid’s general insurance policy.

If you intend to sell alcohol during your event, you are required to have Liquor Liability insurance along with your SEP. Your provider can include it in your General Liability coverage; failure to do so or to provide proof of coverage in advance will result in the cancellation of your event.

Bookings for the next calendar year open in September. For example, our calendar will open for general 2025 multiple-consecutive day bookings on September 15, 2024 and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Booking requests for 2024 can now be made through our rental request form.

Both the Metro and the Intrepid Studio underwent capital improvement projects in 2023. The upgrades are now complete and offer an improved work environment for renters, artists, staff, and patrons alike.
