Land Acknowledgement & resources
Intrepid Theatre has been operating for over 35 years and we recognize the lands that our venues and performances stand on have existed under the stewardship of the Lekwungen People for many thousands of years. We acknowledge with respect the beautiful and traditional territories of the Lekwungen People, who are now known as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations.
By making our home and sharing stories on lək̓ʷəŋən Territory, we take on a role that comes with responsibilities to the land and its stewards. These responsibilities start with making meaningfulful and lasting relationships with local Indigenous communities and organizations. We are committed to using our voice and platform to share the work of these communities and organizations, and support those that are already doing the work. We are sharing some links and resources below. This is not an exhaustive list. We know we have ongoing work to do in seeking to be good visitors and encourage you to also reflect on ways you can take action too.
