Fringe Preview returns for 2024 to Market Square!

Join us with your highlighters and program guides to create your own custom Fringe schedule as you experience a sample of all the Fringe has to offer this year with 2 minute previews of every show in the festival. Hosted by J McLaughlin and Henrietta Dubet, this evening will include a traditional opening, a beverage garden, a performance by the Aunty Collective, an activity booth with Kaleidoscope Theatre, music by Matt Stern and Christina Kent, Indigenous Pop-Up Shop YYJ, and much more!

Aunty Collective is a collective of Indigenous artists and creatives from across Turtle Island. We have members from many territories across the nation: Coast Salish, Anishinaabe, Cree, Dene, Nisga’a, Mi’kmaq, and Kwakwaka’wakw. We prioritize creating space and supporting the agency of Indigenous 2SLGBTQIA+, women, and youth, and work to develop accessible opportunities for Indigenous artists of all mediums to take up space, learn and share knowledge, create, and nurture the future generations to come. www.auntycollective.com

MATT STERN is known for his uplifting spirit, soothing voice, and for promoting diversity and community connection. A multilingual & multidisciplinary artist, he has been a featured performer at POP Montreal, Canadian Music Week, Campbell Bay Music Festival, Coup de cœur francophone, Enoshima Music Festival in Japan and M Comme Musique in France. His new French album has garnered him nominations at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, the Western Canadian Music Awards & the Trille Or Awards. After being selected to represent BC at the Chant’Ouest tour of Western Canada, he won the RADARTS showcase award. He recently began work on his next album with producer Brian West (Nelly Furtado, Maroon 5, K’Naan, Bono, Sia).

Since completing her Masters in Music and Opera Performance at UBC, CHRISTINA KENT has enjoyed singing as an active concert soloist and as a member of the Vancouver Opera and Pacific Opera Victoria chorus. Christina loves to sing everything from operatic arias to musical theatre to folk music. She believes that music is about telling stories, connecting to ourselves, and connecting with one another, and she is happy singing whatever music allows her to do that authentically. Christina is also a passionate singing teacher and the founder of Mindful Sound Studio, a voice studio centred on holistic, embodied singing instruction. She finds deep joy in supporting other singers in finding their own meaningful connection to their voices.
