HOMO is a unique night of art, performance, experimentation, frivolity and a celebration of queer performance. This campy cabaret features a diverse line-up of queer artists, experimenters, and boundary pushers in raucous cabaret acts, fabulous performance pieces, and brand new work created just for HOMO.
Now called simply “HOMO”, Intrepid Theatre’s winter cabaret of queer art is always a sell-out. Prepare for a night of cabaret, camp and surprises.

Peach is an acclaimed playwright, community builder, and gave birth to the east van drag scene, and has hosted too many HOMOs to count!
Louie Norman
Louie Lang Norman (he/they) is a Victoria-based writer and performance artist also known as drag queen Ket Bush (she/her). Originally from the UK, Louie previously had a career as a live artist & experimental writer in Europe before moving to Canada and turning his hand to drag in 2022. Ket is Victoria’s reigning pageant champion and can be found performing most weeks on the Victoria drag scene. Ket produces the drag series ‘Stupid Sessions’ at Friends of Dorothy, and is a founding/core cast member of production collective Drag in Concept.
Out of drag, Louie has produced solo shows internationally, including ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: the whole story’ (Vierte Welt Berlin, Germany 2017), ‘Kate Bush: This Woman’s Works’ (The Flying Dutchman London, UK 2018) and ‘Breaking Up With JK Rowling’ (SPILL International Festival of Performance, UK 2018; INKONST, Sweden 2019; The Exeter Phoenix, UK 2019). Louie has presented his research on fandoms and fan performances at symposiums and guest lectured in Europe & North America (University of Bristol, University of Geißen, University of Southern California, University of Victoria). His forthcoming chapter ‘Fantheatre and the Emancipated Spectator in A Very Potter Musical’ will be published in ‘Theatre Fandom’ (University of Iowa Press, 2024).
Louie has a BA(Hons) in Performance Art (Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, UK, 2017) and a MA in Poetic Practice (Royal Holloway, UK, 2018).
Call Us Men
The boyband no one saw coming, showcasing Drag King excellence from Bollywood to bargain bin. These “Backstreet Boys” are anything but “N’sync” – they can’t even go “One Direction”. Introducing Bad Shah, Fierce Brosnan, Tragic Mike and Rick E. Ratmansky, but you can just Call Us Men.
Shelita Cox
Shelita has been a longstanding pillar of the local drag community for over 7 years, performing, hosting, and producing shows to uplift other performers. With Indigenous roots to the Kwa’Kwa’Kawake speaking peoples of the Namgis First Nation, she is a proud Indigenous performer.
Buwa
British Columbia based, Nigerian performer Buwa is an artist you want to keep on your radar. Drawing influences from the late Whitney Houston, as well as Jill Scott, India Arie, Billy Porter, and Brenda Fassie – Buwa is an exciting contemporary soul artist, with pop and R&B sensibilities and a penchant for storytelling, for whom, music has always played an important place. Buwa channels his creativity into poetry and performance art appearing in various stage productions on Vancouver Island where he resides. Recognized for his infectious melodies, his versatile voice and captivating song writing, Buwa has released two EP: Olu [2019] and Road Signs [2016], along with handful of captivating singles. He uses his music and talents to change the way the world sees Africa.
Ciarán Volke
Ciarán Volke (performer/writer) is a queer artist known for the award winning comedy duo COWBOY, as well as performing all around town all the time. They are a lover of root beer milkshakes, an ex-competitive Pokémon player, and a hot barista. His first kiss was in kindergarten, and his dream job is to be a grandpa.
Dex Neily
Dex Neily (they/them) is a poet and performer from Lekwungen territories whose work centres around disability and queer identity. They have represented Victoria nationally and internationally at seven spoken word festivals, and was a finalist at both the 2021 and 2022 Canadian Individual Poetry Slam. You can find their work on YouTube or hear them perform at the Tongues of Fire open mics run by the Victoria Poetry Project. Their list of superpowers include compassion and former-theatre-kid energy levels.
Zaiden Thiessen
Zaiden Thiessen has been writing for longer than he can remember. Art has become his way of documentation and reflection: Art exists in everything, and everything, even the ugly, is worthy of it.
Free Youth OUTreach Tickets
This Youth OUTreach initiative provides a limited number of free tickets to HOMO: A Queer Cabaret, as well as shows at our 2025 OUTstages Festival, for self-identified LGBTQ youth and allies under 25. Intrepid Theatre believes strongly in creating an accessible environment for queer youth to experience the festival, to engage with the work and artists presented at OUTstages, and to cultivate a new generation of theatre-goers and theatre-makers.
