What do you want less of and more of?

Dustin has been thinking about his life, about all the audiences he has stood in front of, danced with, looked into the eyes of and walked through the streets of the city with. He has written the audience a letter, part love-letter part breakup note, and over the course of an hour or so, he will read and reread this letter over and over again, and each time his performance of it will be transformed by following the advice of his former audience members.

The performance will contain less eyes closed parts, less clothes, and less endings. There will be more beer, more dancing, more confetti. If that sounds like a mashup, that’s because it is. It is also an attempt at the impossible, at achieving perfection, or at least a shared moment of grace together.

“LESS + MORE is a show that only Dustin could have made – courageously honest, wildly innovative, sad and silly and beautiful all at the same time. It is an attempt to consider the biggest possible questions about our lives and how we choose to live them.” – Andy Field

Text reads: Pay what you ten tickets. 20% of tickets for every show are $10. Limited quantities.

About the artists:

Dustin Harvey is an artist who works hard to develop projects that speak to the beauty found in a shared experience. Over the years he has invited people to slow dance with strangers in disused storefronts, to confess secrets to someone thousands of kilometres away through text message, and to immerse themselves in public locations and busy city streets from Aarhus, Denmark to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. His writing has been published by Canadian Theatre Review (Issues 126, 134, 158, 180), as well as the chapter entitled ‘Make What You Need’ in the scholarly book ‘In Defence Of Theatre: Aesthetic Practices and Social Interventions’ edited by Dr. Kathleen Gallagher and Dr. Barry Freeman published by University Toronto Press in 2016. Dustin’s TV credits include Pure Season 2 (WGN), Cavendish (CBC), and Diggstown Season 2 (CBC).

Andy Field is an artist, writer and curator based in London. He has been creating performance work on his own and with a range of collaborators since 2007. He creates formally unusual, interactive projects that invite us to consider our relationships both to the spaces we inhabit and the people around us. His work is always interactive, often inviting participants to experience, or even perform, perfectly normal, everyday behaviours in strange and disorientating contexts.
