Mazel Tov, John Lennon is compelling, humorous and makes today’s headlines echo in our heads with the currency of history and the story of a cultural icon. Vietnam war protests are at their peak, and John Lennon walks into the office of an eminent immigration lawyer. As ultra- laid-back Lennon and the strait-laced lawyer navigate Lennon’s stormy immigration case, an unlikely kinship unfolds while both men gain a greater understanding of friendship, personal values, and patriotism. Based on the true story of the Nixon administration’s attempt to deport John. Directed by Zelda Dean; Nicholas Guerreiro as John Lennon; Perry Burton as Leon Wildes.
About the Artist
Zelda Dean is enjoying her sixth Fringe Festival and looks forward to soon seeing everyone in person at Bema Production’s Black Box Theatre in Congregation Emanu-El Synagogue. Nicholas Guerreiro and Perry Burton are popular Victoria actors and enjoyed the challenge of portraying the real people who helped leave a vital immigration legacy. Bema Productions is excited to again be offering a full season in the fall plus the pilot tour of “Survivors” by Wendy Kout, an eye-opening play for Middle and High Schools that explores hatred, racism and antisemitism and serves as a call to consciousness for our challenging present.
