As part of our Winter Series we are offering free online programming. This livestream series will be available to view live on our Facebook page, and can be viewed on demand at later dates. Watch performances from James Summer, Eddi Licious, and Joey Bulman & Robert Holliston them HERE.

Matt Stern’s performance can viewed on demand on Instagram HERE.

Raucous cabaret numbers. Fabulous performance art. High camp. Heartfelt music.

Our signature queer cabarets are an audience favourite, and since we can’t pack the Metro Studio for a celebration of queer art in person, we have asked artists from past cabarets to create a livestream series. Join us for one, two or all four performances of this OUTstages After Dark livestream series hosted live on our Facebook and Instagram. Each performance will feature a different artist in a 20-30 minute set broadcast live from The Metro Studio.

About the artists
James Summer (he/him) is a poet from Victoria, and he has been involved with the community since 2017. Starting as a member of the Vic high poetry club in high school James is now the 2021 Youth Poet Laureate. The themes of James’s poetry revolves around the experiences of being a 4’11 18 year old with a love for the Arts!

Eddi Licious is a Two Spirit Lekwungen territory based dancer, gender bender, shape shifter and performance artist who began exploring Drag as an art medium in 2005. A mix of deep thoughts, primal urges, weirdness and whimsy, Eddi is passionate about experimenting with mixed media, concepts and characters as a means of promoting acceptance and diversity. This artist was featured on Season 2 (Ep. 9) of CBC’s Canada’s a Drag (episode available on CBC Gem and YouTube https://youtu.be/WmMtrZJYZKo)

Praised by Radio-Canada International for promoting body positivity and diversity, Matt Stern has received awards from the LA Film Awards & the KASHISH Film Festival in Mumbai for his original music videos. Published for Precious and Sacred, a book dedicated to Indigenous children, and featured twice on Queerty.com, Matt performs in Japanese, French, English and Spanish and has been featured in Exclaim!, Italy’s Periodico Daily and on Let’s Go There (Channel Q) in Los Angeles. His music video You’re Magic was picked up by Mtl Blog and went viral within 24 hours. Recently, his video Take It or Leave It, compiled during quarantine from clips submitted by fans, was picked up by Victoria Buzz and achieved the same result. His new album, Take It or Leave It, was released in January 2020 on all platforms and its first music video, Full Moon, was screened at the Victoria Film Festival in February.

Joey Bulman is a classically trainer vocalist, who has performed with Pacific Opera Victoria, Tomeo Arts, and UBC Opera. He’s a frequent cabaret performer, and has appeared in almost every edition of HOMO: A Queer Cabaret. Joey is appearing in a special collaboration with Pacific Opera Victoria, to salute opera’s more irreverent side.
