Intrepid Theatre

Managing Director Justine Shore has announced her departure from Intrepid Theatre later this month. After seven years with the company, Shore is moving to a new role at the BC Arts Council. Shore joined the company in 2015 as the Rentals & Operations Coordinator, managing rental bookings, festival operations, and working with the local theatre and arts communities to bring their work to the stage at our rental venues, the Metro Studio & Intrepid Studio. Always a champion for artists, Shore was able to deftly manage busy rental calendars, while also supporting local emerging artists and companies in launching their first shows, often being a go-to resource for self-producing.

In the fall of 2020, she was appointed Managing Director and has led the company through this last year of the pandemic, as Intrepid Theatre has returned to live shows and produced a hybrid Victoria Fringe over the last 6 weeks. She has helped the company pivot during the closure of venues, and has been a driving force in fostering new residency programs and in developing the framework for a company EDI audit. Also a performer, Shore has appeared in countless Atomic Vaudeville cabarets over the past ten years, and was a guest performer in Pandemic Theatre’s UNO Fest show The Only Good Indian (created by Jivesh Parasram, Donna-Michelle St Bernard and Tom Arthur Davis) at UNO Fest in 2018. Shore’s original script for The Only Good Indian, about her Filipino heritage, will be published in October. 

Shore says of her time at Intrepid, “I have been unbelievably honoured and privileged to have worked with Intrepid Theatre over these last six years. I’ve learned so much with this amazing company and being part of the Intrepid team. I couldn’t have asked for a better group to wade through a pandemic with! I love the work that I do with Intrepid to support and nurture independent artists and emerging arts groups and I am excited to carry that care into the next stage of my career.”

Prior to joining Intrepid Theatre, Shore worked as Administrator for Atomic Vaudeville, and in various roles for Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre and saw the company move to their home at The Roxy Theatre. Active in the local theatre scene, she has also served on several boards including Impulse Theatre and the ProArt Alliance of Greater Victoria.

Shore’s last day at Intrepid Theatre will be October 14.
