Step into a world of music, movement, and emotion with The Joan Bessie Cabaret—a soul-stirring collaboration between The Joan Bessie Duo and four dynamic dancers. Known for their groove-driven, harmony-rich sound, The Joan Bessie Duo delivers an original live music experience that’s both intimate and powerful. In this Fringe-exclusive cabaret, their evocative songs come to life through contemporary choreography by Nicole Bennett, Laura Bartlett, and Amanda Zink—each bringing a unique voice and vision to the stage. Together, these artists weave a rich tapestry of sound and movement, exploring connection, release, and the cathartic power of letting go. Through lush vocals, raw lyrics, and striking expression, The Joan Bessie Cabaret invites audiences to feel deeply, move freely, and reflect on the beauty and struggle of the human experience. Whether you’re drawn to live music, contemporary dance, or simply seeking something fresh and heartfelt at this year’s Victoria Fringe Festival, this performance promises to leave a lasting impression. Come for the music. Stay for the movement. Leave feeling a little more alive. Embrace the vibe. Move to the music. Feel the release. This is The Joan Bessie Cabaret.

About the Artist

Critically acclaimed, chart-topping artist, Joan Bessie brings her original music and diverse songwriting to the 2025 Victoria Fringe festival. After her CBC Top 20 hit, “G.G.”, followed by “I Ride Alone” and “Dark Voices” both spending 12 weeks on the Canadian Indie Country Chart, Joan Bessie has just announced the release of her latest collaboration with award-winning Producer, Ryan Dahle, “In Your Mind” – a floating groove that nods to classic Motown. Joan Bessie Music is genre-bending and manages to feel both fresh and familiar. The songs are addictive and the vibe at live shows is inclusive, friendly and safe.
