Three recent graduates of UVic’s Phoenix Theatre: Jack Storwick, Samantha Frew, and Chiara Power (‘The Importance of Being Earnest’, ‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee’, and ‘Twelfth Night’) are looking to entertain you at this year’s Victoria Fringe Festival with ‘Outstanding!’- a brand new comedic showcase that features everything you’ve ever wanted to see onstage. Amaze at the performers, who, in the past, the Times Colonist said, “delivered standout performances”, “have oodles of talent”, and are “also notable”. Watch dreams come into conflict with reality as this show-stopping trio attempts to get through their onstage bucket list before the big leagues. Intrepid’s Metro Studio has surely never seen an act so breathtakingly desperate for your attention.

Latecomers up to 15 minutes after the show begins.

About the Artist

The Outstanding! trio consists of three recent graduates of UVic’s Phoenix Theatre- Chiara Power, Samantha Frew, and Jack Storwick. They are honoured to be living, learning, listening, and gathering inspiration on unceded Lək̓ ʷəŋən territory. This show was developed in Victoria, BC, with the help of a shared Google document, caffeine, and a dream. As such, the trio also gives thanks to their producer, Ballenworks- a local theatre company based on Lək̓ ʷəŋən territory. Its mission is to focus on the creation of new works, with an emphasis on highlighting and presenting emerging voices in our community.

Chiara Power:
Mexican-born, American-raised, Chiara Power is a recent grad of UVic’s Phoenix Theatre and has been performing since she was 7. Though her first love is Musical Theatre, Chiara’s love for theatre extends to straight plays, comedies, Shakespeare, and beyond. While performing was her first love, she is also an accomplished teacher, youth mentor, and choreographer. She was most recently onstage as Olivia in Twelfth Night, Olive in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and 100 Years of Broadway at the Phoenix Theatre.

Samantha Frew:
Born and bred in Newfoundland, Samantha Frew is an east-coast kid in the wild west. A recent graduate of UVic’s Phoenix Theatre, Frew’s latest public performance was as Malvolia in “Twelfth Night”, and her other credits include “The Hot L Baltimore” (The Girl), “The Importance of Being Earnest” (Cecily), and “Spring Awakening” (Ilse). While acting is her first love, Samantha has worn- and continues to wear- many wonderful hats, including director/assistant director, writer, teacher, choreographer, designer, and visual artist.

Jack Storwick:
Jack is a Performer / Sound Designer who recently completed his undergraduate degree (BFA Theatre, Minor in Music) at UVic. Past Performance credits include: “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” (VP Panch), “The Importance of Being Earnest” (Algernon), “Spring Awakening” (Melchior), (Phoenix Theatre). Sound Design: “Twelfth Night”, “The Killing Game”, “The Hot L Baltimore” (Phoenix Theatre), “The Shop Around the Corner” (Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre, Sound Design / Foley), “Litigation Racket” (Victoria One Act Festival), “A Stranger Remains” (SATCo, Composition).
